VARTA offers products based on Enhanced Liquid Electrolyte Battery (EFB) technology that provides better reliability and performance than standard lead-acid batteries for cars and trucks. Our batteries are designed to meet specific customer requirements and are manufactured in factories in Europe to meet the highest quality standards.

EFB technology for cars

EFB batteries can be used with a partial charge and do not require deep charge/discharge like AGM batteries. This is possible thanks to a polyester mesh material that is added to the plate positive surface. This helps to fix the plate active material, which increases the service life.

Advantages:

• performance in the partial charge state and performance in deep charges-discharges is more than double that of conventional batteries;
• support for frequent engine starts and engine rest long periods;
• improved charge acceptance compared to conventional batteries with liquid electrolyte;
• a design that increases thermal stability for use in engine compartment spaces and in hot climates;
• ideal for vehicles equipped with a Start-Stop system without regenerative braking, as well as for vehicles with increased energy consumption, whether it depends on a tight travel schedule or a lot of accessories and installed equipment.

EFB technology in trucks

The VARTA Promotive EFB is a unique battery specially designed for high performance in commercial vehicles, using the latest technologies to protect against electrolyte delamination and vibration. It is the only product on the market with mixing elements exclusively developed and patented by Johnson Controls. EFB technology provides reliable performance for any demanding application and is ideal for tail-mounted installation.
